And They Called Her Excalibur

Oh hello there, please allow me to introduce to you the newest addition to my family.

It happened this morning, innocently enough. It was a moment of weakness. I went to the store for some laundry detergent and out I came with my baby. And her name?

Excalibur.

Not the most common of names, I agree, but this is no common woman. Oh, what this lady can do!  A marvel of caffeine addicts everywhere.  Just look how proudly she stands on my counter. Ready for duty.

Now any time someone new enters your life, there is bound to be someone among your circle of friends who will feel jealous. They will worry that you don’t have enough love to go around.  Luckily, for my stovetop Moka, this could never be the case.  If anything, I appreciate her more.  I am reminded of all the places we’ve been together: the good times, the bad, the campsites, the trips home to mum’s…even the days I’ve left her alone on the stove, untouched.  No matter what, she’s always  there for me. Unconditional Love. Loyalty.  Just what you want, and need, in a coffee maker.

Now my Moka, she’s as good to me now as she was the day we met. Better, perhaps, as she continues to mature into the seasoned coffee vessel that she is.  Now that Excalibur has come along, Moka can be there for me in only the best of times: Saturday mornings with pancakes, out in the suburbs with family, when I really have the time to spend with her.  Excalibur will take over on dark, cold mornings, to give me that quick fix. The lovely new lady in my life will also take on the responsibility of steaming up the perfect froth for my cappuccinos and lattes.

So basically, Big E will become the workhorse of the family, and Miss M will sweep in and save the day when only beauty and grace will do.  Which, when I think of it, should be always. But as we all know, too much of a good thing…

Come back tomorrow for the maiden espresso pull and so I can share Big E’s first coffee masterpieces with you. I can’t wait. And check out the Cappuccino Showdown where I pit different types of milk against each other in a battle for cappuccino supremacy, all from the comfort of my city apartment.
